What is a Virtual Treasure Hunt?
Imagine being able to do a treasure or scavenger hunt in your favourite locations, without ever having to travel. Or visit exotic locales you’ve always wanted to see, and find clues along the way, all while never leaving your computer.
Regular escape rooms have puzzles that are vaguely interconnected – usually by a common theme (like our Sherlock escape room) but are all individual puzzles to solve. In our Singapore Spy Hunt, you instead follow a linear narrative as you travel from place to place across Singapore gathering clues as to who the suspect could be.
Our virtual treasure hunts can be custom built, using real world locations you specify. Provide us with a list of places you want to include, and a premise, and we’ll build a puzzle that will have your team trekking through the alps, or milling around downtown Singapore, or even braving the wilderness in the Australian outback in search of clues that will ultimately help you solve the objective at the end of the hunt.
While there are some small puzzles to solve along the way, their purpose is to help you uncover clues on the suspect’s identity, rather than open a locked box, or secret door. You might miss important files or notices throughout the game but you can go back and revisit locations to double check.
Hosted on a single webpage, you can travel through the locations using handy arrows and street signs, clicking on people and places that hold more information that will be essential by the end.
The devil is in the details and this game challenges you to explore each real-world area thoroughly to make sure you haven’t missed anything. Once you think you’ve found all the clues in one location, scroll down to visit the next and point and click your way through anywhere in the world you desire.
The Signapore Spy Hunt
Breaking News: There are terrorist operatives in Singapore!
As a federal agent, it’s your job to follow the trail of clues across the city-state and figure out who’s behind the unfolding terrorist threat. Along the way you’ll encounter people who want to help, and people who don’t, as you race to collect the clues that will reveal who the leader is behind the Krimson Knight’s threat.
You start your journey at Singapore’s Changhi airport, meeting an Interpol operative who has information on the suspects. Unfortunately, while trying to locate your colleague, you immediately encounter conflicting reports of what the suspect looks like, where they went and what they were carrying from people who claim to be on your side. Figure out who is telling the truth, who is your friend from Interpol and who is a lying Krimson Knight operative, sent to throw you off the trail.
Fortunately, there are HTX documents littered across your travels that if you can find and decode all of, you’ll receive another clue as to the Krimson Knight operatives’ identity.
You can look down on the whole city and check out the stadium, flyer and outdoor theatre to see if there are any clues that your team might find helpful.
And in each location there are multiple real-world spots you can visit, from across Punggol Park to exploring Chinatown in 360-degree view. Meet with Triad operatives and play traditional games like Mah-jong to curry favour and isolate the truth in a city of lies and liars. You can look down on the whole city and check out the stadium, flyer and outdoor theatre to see if there are any clues that your team might find helpful.
If your group can apply logic and teamwork to each new piece of information you learn, by the end of the hunt you should have enough clues to figure out who your suspect is.
