Custom Virtual Amazing Race
In 2018 Making Teams was approached by high-end firms with an exciting and innovative idea. They wanted to channel the energy of the TV show The Amazing Race and combine it with information on special projects they had done around the world to create a totally unique teambuilding experience for their employees.
Just like the TV show, the virtual version of the game would challenge the players to travel from country to country solving puzzles that were unique to their culture. But, as they journeyed, the employees would learn about the special projects their company had been working on in each location.
First, head to luxury in the hillsides of LA where you can visit the stunning villa built by SAOTA and learn how to become a high-end art dealer of famous works like Picasso and Jackson Pollock. As you explore your surroundings, a voice will guide you through the design of the villa and explain what makes it truly spectacular.
Once you’ve determined the value of the paintings head to the next leg of your journey. But first, how are you going to travel? And just how much will it cost you? In The Amazing Race, you play against your colleagues, not the clock. As each team races round the world in an attempt to solve all the puzzles first and claim the ultimate victory, they need to decide whether to sacrifice speed for a cheaper trip, or spend more of their money to arrive faster at their next stop.
By the end it could come down to mere minutes, so every trip taken counts. Will you fly to Moscow to see the Red Square? And how will you get to the Icelandic tundra to see the Northern Lights?
These puzzles require memorisation, lateral thinking and general knowledge to complete, and the more your team coordinate with each other to figure out the answer, the more chance you have of completing the puzzle quickly, which is important because every second counts and if you get the answer wrong, you might just have to start again.
From Iceland, head to Mallorca where you can learn some of the native tongue as you wander the streets of Palma (via Google maps), speaking with locals and visiting tapas bars to order delectable culinary classics. Learn what food hits the spot while being serenaded with guitars and make sure you’ve explored all the back streets to speak to everyone you need to before you brave trying the more unusual dishes yourself!
Once you’ve finished your food and decided how to get to your next destination, hop on over to Marrakesh for something particularly exciting… be one of the first and only people in the world to visit one of the most architecturally beautiful buildings in the whole of Morocco, as part of a Top-Secret project by SAOTA. You’ll get a chance to peek around one of the most luxurious villas in existence, decorated in traditional Moroccan fare.
Lastly, travel to Cape Town, South Africa, to see the beautifully decorated interior of a luxury villa that overlooks the city.
If your team is the first to arrive and solve the puzzle (without too many penalties along the way), then you can say you are the proud winners of The Amazing Race!
